One more reason why we exist

It is no secret now, thanks to CNN and other news organizations, that the country of Haiti has been violently shaken by a high magnitude earthquake followed by a series of almost equally strong aftershocks, leaving everyone in a state of consternation. The devastation is indescribable as has been documented and the death toll is still unknown. At this present moment, Haiti is living its darkest hour. With gangs of thieves and criminals constantly harassing the population, with no water, no foods, the smell of dead bodies all over, unsanitary conditions, and the prospect of widespread contamination and diseases, the possibility of more deaths in a very near future is very likely. We are witnessing an unprecedented outpouring of international solidarity with Haiti and we are so thankful for that. However, as Haitians, we the members of the 7th Day Adventists Church Community do not want to watch others coming to the rescue of our own people while we watch helplessly. Consequently, we have decided to launch a fundraising effort that will help us send some of our own doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to Haiti to offer their contribution to the relief effort. We just came back from our most recent trip in March 11, 2011 and would like to ask for your help and we hope you will continue to be generous toward us by donating medical supplies, water, non-perishable food items, hygiene items (toothpaste, soap, toothbrushes etc..). You may donate money through the "donate" button on the right. Thank you so much for your support and may God richly bless you!
